Seon Food started 10 years ago from a small shop lot in Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. ‘Seon’ means‘ Prosperity’ in mandarin and this auspicious name has held the company in good stead. From this humble beginning, Seon Food has prospered and grown by leaps and bounds into one of Malaysia’s leading dim sum manufacturers. Today, Seon Food operates out of a semi-automated facility in Rawang, Selangor with its own R&D, production, warehousing and logistics facilities, all certified to Halal, HACCP and GMP standards. Its food service supplies over 50 items of premium quality dim sum delicacies to Chinese restaurants throughout Malaysia, including 5-star fine-dining Chinese restaurants in leading hotels
Seon Food is helmed by its founder, Mr. Chan Kwai Loy, a highly accomplished award winning chef with more than 12 years’ experience as a master in Hong Kong Chinese cuisine.
Started as a kitchen apprentice, Chan went through the rigorous cooking discipleship programme of ingredient preparation such as washing, cutting, steaming and frying before being promoted to a Chef, a process which eventually saw him winning many coveted international and local culinary awards.
The secret of success behind Seon Food is passion. As a chef who has been through the ‘thick & thin’ of his culinary journey and being trained under strict master chefs, Chan has developed the discipline of being meticulous and articulate in everything he does, especially in the process of making dim sum. Every day, he walks the length and breadth of his production floor to ensure the taste and texture consistency of his dim sum are up to his discerning expectation.
